# Is an Upper Sorbian element worth adding to a website in Bautzen

A fully Upper Sorbian version of a website is only needed by a rare business in Bautzen, but one or two elements in Upper Sorbian, a greeting or the company name at the top of the page, are an honest gesture rarely used by competitors, since the region is officially bilingual.

Bautzen, called Budyšin in Upper Sorbian, sits in the officially recognized settlement area of the Sorbs, a national minority in Germany with its own language, and street signs in the town are already genuinely bilingual, so mentioning that on a website is not invention, it is a fact about the place.

A business should not present itself as Sorbian if it is not, the honest approach is to use the language respectfully, for example duplicating the company name or a greeting phrase, without claiming an ethnic identity it does not have.

An element like this is almost certainly missing from most competitors in Bautzen, since few businesses think about it at all, and that is exactly why it sets the site apart, not because it brings much extra traffic by search volume.

A good place for this gesture is the site footer or the about page, short and to the point, rather than making all communication bilingual if the business has no genuine Upper Sorbian-speaking clients or staff.

Sorbian culture in Bautzen shows up not only in language but in real public events and traditions, and it is more honest to reference specific, verifiable facts about the town than general nice words about rich cultural heritage.

For a business that genuinely works with Upper Sorbian-speaking clients, for example in education, culture or tourism, a full Upper Sorbian version of the core pages is already justified and works as an honest, not decorative, gesture.

Illia BizTech builds multilingual websites and can honestly add a regional language element, including Upper Sorbian, for a business in Bautzen, without overstating identity.

Illia BizTech builds and maintains websites for companies in Germany in German, English, Russian and Ukrainian, from the first version through ongoing maintenance and search visibility work. One monthly plan covers the website, advertising and content, the scope is agreed in advance and can be moved between them when priorities change. The domain, hosting and ad accounts stay registered to the company, so the work can continue on the existing setup without a full rebuild. That fits businesses moving to Germany or expanding into the German-speaking market who want to explain their task once.
