# A provider promises our snack bar 2,000 new followers

A broker is offering our organic snack bar a follower package.

A provider reached out to our small organic snack bar offering 2,000 new Instagram followers for a one-off payment, supposedly real profiles based in Germany. It sounds like a quick way to finally show a decent reach. Is a purchase like that just an ordinary marketing expense, or does it catch up with you later?

It's a direct breach of Meta's own rules. Meta's Community Standard on spam explicitly bans buying, selling or exchanging engagement such as followers, likes, views and shares, regardless of how real the profiles look.

On enforcement, accounts identified as existing only to inflate such numbers get removed in bulk, which also lowers the follower count of every profile they were attached to. That hits your own account too. It doesn't only affect the profiles that were sold.

For a snack bar with a modest but genuinely loyal customer base, an artificially inflated number achieves nothing anyway, it usually evaporates on its own and says nothing about who actually shows up to eat.

Regular, planned content builds reach that actually reflects real customers. A purchased number never did that. That's exactly what [Illia BizTech](https://illia-biztech.de/en/services/content-social) works on in its ongoing content management.

A small organic snack bar with a handful of genuinely loyal regulars should know that a high follower count on its own says nothing about future orders. Providers offering packages like this typically show up unannounced in messages or comments, often with a suspiciously cheap flat rate attached.

On enforcement, Meta removes accounts identified as existing only to inflate such numbers in bulk, which also lowers the follower count of the affected profile itself. An artificially inflated number also says nothing about who is actually a paying customer.
