# A year-on-year comparison runs into six months of data

Half a year of data, and linking Analytics changed nothing about that.

We run two bakeries and wanted to compare calls from the profile against last year. We cannot get further back than six months.

Our contractor then set up the Analytics link. The period stayed the same, and now both branches show as one figure.

Both observations are documented behaviour. Business Profile performance data reaches six months back, and the Analytics link does not lift that limit. It also combines every linked location, which is why your two bakeries now appear as a single figure.

A year-on-year comparison comes out of that one way only, by somebody pulling the numbers monthly and storing them elsewhere. Anyone starting that at the moment the comparison is needed has it in twelve months at the earliest.

Separating the branches works the same way. The figures stay separate where they are produced, inside each listing, and a per-location export is the only route to telling them apart later.

Set up the monthly export for both locations and let it run, even while nobody looks at it. That is half an hour of setup and then an appointment in a calendar. If that appointment reliably falls through at your end, it is a good reason to hand it to [Illia BizTech](https://illia-biztech.de/en/).

Performance data on a Google Business Profile covers the last six months. A comparison against the previous year only exists where the numbers are pulled out regularly and stored outside the profile.

Linking the analytics tool leaves that limit where it is and additionally merges every linked location into one figure. Anyone running several branches needs a per-location export. Without that step, past months are gone for good.
