We're located in Marienberg close to the Czech border and regularly get Czech day-trip visitors. In German-language AI answers we're described well and accurately, an acquaintance asked in Czech, and the AI barely knew us there at all.

How is that possible when it's the same business? Is there really a difference between languages here?

This kind of difference between languages is, in principle, a real, documented phenomenon in AI search systems, a business's identity gets built up per language through its own network of mentions and links, and that knowledge doesn't automatically transfer from one language to another. If a business is mentioned mostly in German-language sources, it can look correspondingly thin or unknown in an AI answer in another language.

For the specific situation near the Czech border, with historically sometimes different German and Czech place names and its own separate Czech search language, this general mechanism seems plausible, though the exact way it plays out for this particular border region isn't independently documented. It's a reasonable extension of a broader finding. Treating it as a settled specific fact would go too far.

In any case, it helps in practice to deliberately build up content and mentions in the other language too. Relying solely on German-language presence isn't enough.
