# The agency wants to build a separate landing page for the ads. We already have a website.

1,200 euros up front plus 40 a month, and the page is to sit on an agency domain because that is quicker.

We put a good 6,000 euros into our website eighteen months ago, and now the advertising agency says the campaign needs a separate landing page: 1,200 euros up front plus 40 euros a month.

It is supposed to sit on an agency domain, because that is quicker. When I asked why our service page will not do, the answer was that it has too many distractions.

I am uneasy at the thought that the page our enquiries land on does not belong to us.

Your unease has a solid basis, and with Google the third-party domain is actually a policy breach.

Google's advertising policies require [the landing page and the URL displayed in the ad to use the same domain](https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/6368661?hl=de). If your ad runs under your name and leads to an agency domain, those do not match. That tells you enough about the reason you were given: it is quicker because the agency can act there without asking you.

The substance of the proposal is nonetheless right. A landing page differs from a service page in offering exactly one action and removing everything that leads away from it: the menu, cross-links, other offerings.

Google describes landing page experience [on a help page of its own](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/14086?hl=de), and yes, a service page with full navigation often does worse. That page simply belongs on your own domain, as a page of your own website, without the menu. Technically it is the same work, it costs the same 1,200 euros, and it stays with you when the relationship ends. The 40 euros a month is worth questioning: on your own hosting that line item disappears.

Do not forget the legal notice. The duty applies to commercial offerings and therefore to a single landing page as well, along with a privacy policy. On an agency domain this tends to get overlooked, and you are responsible regardless.

Finally, ask where the enquiries go. If they land in an agency account rather than your inbox, the page is the least of your worries.
