We ran a campaign with an enquiry form in autumn and wanted to download the contacts now for a follow-up. The file comes back empty for that period.

The results still show the enquiries though, with counts and everything. Where did the data go?

Meta keeps instant-form data available for download for ninety days from submission and removes it afterwards, citing security and storage. Your autumn campaign falls outside that window, which is why the file is empty.

The results column counts something else. It keeps reporting every enquiry received in the selected period, including lifetime totals. Report and file are therefore not in conflict. They describe two different things, the count and the availability.

What does survive is messages sent to the page. The inbox stays intact, so enquiries that arrived as direct messages are still there. A form lead without an export is left as a number.

The consequence for the business is inconvenient and quite clear. Either you download regularly, weekly when in doubt, or the form hangs off a system that collects the contacts immediately. A campaign that gathers enquiries in summer and gets reviewed in winter loses the addresses on the way. Connecting the form to a system like that is something [Illia BizTech](https://illia-biztech.de/en) sets up, so that next season leaves you with the contacts themselves.
