# A competitor seems to have a listing in every town in Landkreis Bautzen, is that even allowed?

A trade business in Landkreis Bautzen notices a competitor under the same name running its own Google listings in several towns across the district and asks whether that's permitted.

We're a small trade business with a single, real location in Landkreis Bautzen. A competitor under the same name, though, shows up in at least five different towns across the district with its own listing, each with its own phone number.

Whether there are five real branches behind that or something else, we don't know, but in local search the competitor ends up present almost everywhere because of it, while we're only visible at our one location.

Is this even allowed, and what can we do about it if it isn't?

Several real, genuinely staffed locations under the same name are explicitly allowed, that's not a violation on its own, however unfair it might feel. The problem only starts when there are no real locations behind the listings, when a made-up address or a single call center is just simulating presence in several places.

From the outside, that difference is nearly impossible to determine reliably, and that's exactly what makes cases like this hard. Photos taken on site, genuinely different opening hours, or a separate branded vehicle for each location give an early hint, but not proof.

Google offers a dedicated form for reporting suspected fake locations, but based on others' experience, handling there often takes several weeks and doesn't always produce a result.
