A small candle manufactory in Erlangen runs into an order placed entirely inside Perplexity, without the customer ever directly visiting its own online shop. * ##### Asked by SlowAnchor231 * ##### Asked on October 17, 2026 A customer told us he searched for, compared, and ordered our handmade candles from our small manufactory in Erlangen entirely inside Perplexity, without ever opening our own online shop in a browser. That was new to us, until now we only knew Perplexity as a search tool. Is this a dedicated shopping feature from Perplexity, and does our shop still show up somehow, or do we disappear completely behind it for the customer? #### Answers ![Portrait of Illia Belichenko, technical specialist at Illia BizTech](/_ipx/f_webp,q_75/https://cms.illia-biztech.de/uploads/small_Illia_Belichenko_author_81f88864f0.png) ##### Illia Belichenko · Founder & Technical Lead ✓ Accepted answer October 17, 2026 This genuinely is a dedicated, still fairly new feature. It isn't a one-off case. Perplexity launched 'Perplexity Shopping' in beta in November 2025 and expanded it internationally in the first quarter of 2026, letting users search, compare, and buy directly inside Perplexity's own interface. Its companion Comet browser, built on Chromium, free for Max subscribers since October 2025 and substantially rebuilt in mid-2026, can even fill out forms and build a shopping cart on a business's own website on its own. Unlike some other AI shopping flows, Perplexity Shopping explicitly shows a visible, clickable link back to the actual product or business page whenever it makes a recommendation. Just summarizing the offer anonymously isn't how it works. Your shop doesn't disappear completely for the customer, it stays visible as a clearly identifiable source, even though the actual ordering happens inside Perplexity itself. For your manufactory in Erlangen, what follows from that is that your own product data needs to be structured and complete enough for an automated purchasing process like that to actually handle it reliably. [Illia BizTech](https://illia-biztech.de/en) will check whether your online shop already has the right foundation for that. ##### #### [Instagram Stories for our yoga studio in Dresden disappear after a day, is there a more reliable channel for last-minute announcements](/en/forum/unsere-instagram-storys-fur-das-yogastudio-in-dresden-verschwinden-nach-einem-tag-gibt-es-einen-verlasslicheren-weg-fur-kurzfristige-ankundigungen) October 16, 2026 [](/en/forum/unsere-instagram-storys-fur-das-yogastudio-in-dresden-verschwinden-nach-einem-tag-gibt-es-einen-verlasslicheren-weg-fur-kurzfristige-ankundigungen) #### [Could we get in trouble with Google if our pages for Hainichen and Frankenberg look too similar?](/en/forum/bekommen-wir-arger-mit-google-wenn-unsere-seiten-fur-hainichen-und-frankenberg-sich-stark-ahneln) October 16, 2026 [](/en/forum/bekommen-wir-arger-mit-google-wenn-unsere-seiten-fur-hainichen-und-frankenberg-sich-stark-ahneln) #### [Google sends people looking for us to Freiburg.
