# A quote request arrived by email but disappeared from the app before we could reply

A notification about a quote request via Google Business messaging arrived by email, but doesn't show up in the app or on the web as a conversation. A conclusive explanation for this hasn't emerged yet.

We got an email notification that a customer requested a quote through our Google Business Profile via SMS. The email shows the name and the request, but neither the app nor the web version shows a conversation we could reply to.

What could be causing this, and how do we actually reach this request?

There's no fully reliable explanation for this yet, even in similar, publicly documented cases the exact cause ended up staying unresolved. Most likely, the request didn't create a persistent conversation thread in the system for technical reasons, even though the notification itself was sent correctly.

Before writing it off as lost for good, it's worth checking every filter in the messages view, going beyond just the default one, since archived or lower-priority conversations are easy to miss there. If your business manages several locations or profiles, also check whether the message got attached to a different profile by mistake.

If there's genuinely no trace of the conversation in the app, the practical route left is contacting the customer directly, using the name from the email notification as a starting point, instead of waiting for the conversation to reappear.

For future requests, it's worth regularly checking the app or web interface directly, alongside the email notifications, precisely because this gap between the notification and the actual conversation entry apparently does happen, without a reliably established cause so far.
