# We were charged for an enquiry about a service we don't even offer

Local Services Ads charged for a call asking about a service that isn't part of the business's actual offering at all. Marking the lead as irrelevant didn't stop the charge.

Through our Local Services Ads, we were charged for a call where someone asked about a service we don't offer at all.

As instructed by Google, I rated the lead as irrelevant. It was charged anyway.

Is there a way to dispute this, or is that money simply gone?

A formal dispute or appeal process for Local Services leads doesn't exist anymore. Credits run through an automated system, and even a lead that's clearly outside your listed services doesn't guarantee a refund.

The only lever that's actually available is rating it irrelevant, ideally with a short, specific note about exactly what was requested and why it falls outside your services. The system does take these patterns into account over time, even though a single rating rarely has an immediate effect.

It's also worth being cautious with community answers on this topic: in one publicly documented case, one of the replies was openly flagged by an experienced Google Product Expert as likely AI-generated. A single forum reply is therefore no substitute for your own, documented rating directly in the system.
