An SEO agency's test with weekly posting over nine weeks found no measurable effect on local-pack ranking for three previously inactive profiles.

For our gym in Dresden we have posted a short update to the Google profile every day for six weeks, following advice that frequent posting improves map ranking. Nothing about our position in the map view has visibly moved in that time.

Is this volume of posting even the right lever, or have we misunderstood something?

That lever was probably misjudged, and the doubt is well founded. SEO agency Sterling Sky tested this directly, in a piece published 25 February 2026, posting weekly for nine weeks on three previously inactive profiles, tracking rankings across 441 keywords per location.

The test found no measurable effect on local-pack ranking. It tested weekly posting on previously inactive profiles. A similarly weak effect seems plausible for daily posting on an already active profile like this one, though this particular test does not directly prove it. A widely repeated figure claiming a 520% jump in calls from Google Posts, on closer inspection, actually traces back to a BrightLocal study about profiles with over a hundred photos. Posting frequency plays no part in that particular study.
