How do we make clear which Freiberg we mean? Last week somebody wanted a sign for a shop in the Breisgau. When I search myself, Google suggests Freiburg first. * ##### Asked by FaintOutlet480 * ##### Asked on October 15, 2026 We are a signage company in Freiberg in Saxony and supply mainly businesses in the Mittelsachsen district. Since the site was rebuilt in the spring we regularly get enquiries from people who take us for a company in Freiburg. Last week somebody wanted a sign for a shop in the Breisgau. Freiburg is the larger city and is searched for more often, so the search suggests it first. You will not change that. What you can change is the confusion among people who have already reached you. And the place name alone is not enough for that, because there are [several places called Freiberg, among them Freiberg am Neckar, plus the similar-sounding Freiburg im Breisgau](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freiberg%5F%28Begriffskl%C3%A4rung%29). So never write the place without a qualifier. Freiberg in Saxony, not just Freiberg. In the page title, in the footer, in the address, in the profile. And an enquiry form asking where the job is located sorts out the rest before somebody costs you time. More effective than the name itself is the context around it. Name the neighbouring towns you work in, your district, a few references with locations. Somebody from the Breisgau who lands on a page talking about Mittelsachsen notices immediately that they are in the wrong place, and that is exactly the effect you want. For advertising the same applies more sharply. If you run ads, check the location setting and exclude Baden-Württemberg. Without that you are paying for clicks from the Breisgau, and last week's enquiry shows they exist. Renaming in the sense of spelling it differently is not something I would do.
