# I google our ad and cannot see it. Is it even running?

Checked every morning for a week, sometimes five or six times a day. My wife sees it on her phone sometimes, the account says active, and 21 euros went out yesterday.

I type in our most important search terms and cannot see our ad. My wife, on her phone, does sometimes see it.

The account shows the ad as active and costs are going out, 21 euros yesterday. I checked every morning for a week, sometimes five or six times a day.

Now somebody tells me that this checking is exactly what harms the ad, and I do not understand why.

Whoever told you that is right, and the reason is unremarkable. When the ad is served to you, you generate impressions nobody clicks, and to the system that reads as a sign the ad is a poor match for that search term.

That also explains the difference between you and your wife. Somebody who sees an ad six times a day and never clicks eventually sees it less often. Your wife has no such history, and on top of that the location, the device and the time of day all differ. Two people running the same search simply do not get the same page.

If you do click, no harm comes of it: repeated clicks from within your own business are [filtered as invalid and not charged](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/42995?hl=de). So yesterday's 21 euros did not come from you.

Check inside the account instead. Under tools and troubleshooting there is [an ad preview and diagnosis tool](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/148778?hl=de) that shows whether the ad is being served for a given search term, location and device type, without generating an impression.

That is the tool built for your exact question. If it is not being served there, the diagnosis usually names the reason. Google [lists the possible causes in one place](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/7378077?hl=de), from an exhausted daily budget through a disapproved ad to a bid that does not reach the position.

At 21 euros of daily spend, a budget used up early is the likeliest candidate: search in the afternoon and there is nothing to see, even though everything ran in the morning.
