For searches made right at our own address, we tend to land toward the back of the results. In neighboring Coswig, where there's noticeably less competition, the same listing ranks conspicuously higher, even though we're not actually located there. In a dense city-center district with several nearly identical businesses, Google filters some of them out of the top spots, even when a listing is well maintained on its own. Coswig doesn't have that same density effect, since noticeably fewer similar businesses are competing for the same spots there. The listing has to hold up against less competition there, so it moves higher, even though the actual distance to it is greater than to any competitor in central Dresden itself. At the dense home address, what helps most is an even more precise category that genuinely distinguishes the business from its immediate neighbors, along with fresh photos and replies to every review, since those signals carry more weight in a crowded field than they do anywhere else. That doesn't remove the competitive pressure downtown, but it improves the business's position within that pressure.
