# Google Ads offers Fallersleben and Vorsfelde as targets, and neither of them mentions Wolfsburg

The city's quarters can be picked as individual location targets, yet their descriptions never name the city.

We wanted to narrow the advertising to individual quarters, because our catchment is not the whole city. Fallersleben and Vorsfelde do come up in the location field.

The description beside them only says Lower Saxony. Are those our quarters, or places somewhere else with the same names?

The answer sits in a file you can look up yourself. Google publishes its geo-targets as a CSV. In the edition of 12 August 2026, around 273,000 rows, the name Wolfsburg occurs exactly once, as a City with the id 1004575 and the canonical name Wolfsburg,Lower Saxony,Germany. There is no second row for a district or a municipality anywhere in it. Google republishes the file regularly, so the edition to check is the current one.

The quarters, by contrast, are in there as targets of their own, and not one of them names the city. Fallersleben, Vorsfelde, Detmerode, Ehmen, Reislingen, Mitte-West, Hattorf and Fallersleben-Sülfeld all carry the description Lower Saxony and nothing else. Going by the name alone, they cannot be told apart from places of the same name elsewhere. With the name Nordstadt it becomes genuinely unclear. Six German rows carry it, among them a quarter of Gifhorn and one that reads simply Nordstadt,Lower Saxony,Germany. Take that one at face value and you may be buying clicks in the neighbouring town.

Two things follow for your campaign. The city as a whole is unambiguous and therefore a safe target. With the quarters, the id is the only thing that pins them down beyond doubt.
