# Google Business Profile name rules for a brand you host | Illia BizTech

> A well-known brand working inside the shop stays out of the listing name. Google rewrites that field on its own once it notices, without asking first.

Two brands share one floor, and whether both belong in a single listing is unclear.

We run a bookshop in Bornheim and operate a branch of a well-known coffee brand on the same floor. Both names together would be the most honest description of us.

The profile currently carries only the bookshop. May we put both names into the listing so people know what to expect?

Combining them is the one thing you may not do. Google's representation guidelines say it directly. If your business location combines two or more brands, do not combine the brand names into a single Business Profile. The examples given as unacceptable are two pairs of well-known fast-food brands.

The route the guideline leaves open depends on how the second brand actually operates on your floor. Independent brands each get a profile of their own. A business that only resells a brand lists under its own name. A franchisee may carry the brand name. For your floor your contract decides it. If the coffee brand is a genuine branch with its own hours and its own staff, it warrants a second profile. If you simply sell that brand's coffee, one listing under your own name stays, and the brand belongs in the description and in the photos.

Once the question is settled, you can do either yourself. If you are unsure which of the three cases applies, [Illia BizTech](https://illia-biztech.de/en) will look at your contract and your floor once. What matters most is not leaving the double name in place, because it breaks the guideline Google wrote for exactly this case.

* Google Business Profile
* Profile name

The name field is the most closely policed part of a Google Business Profile. It holds the name the business trades under at the address, the one on the door and on the receipt. Additions describing the range, a partner brand or the neighbourhood were never meant for it.

Another company's brand in that field surfaces eventually, either through a report from outside or through Google's own review. The correction arrives without a conversation first. Where the brand genuinely belongs to the offer, the profile has other fields built for it.
