# Instagram won't connect to the new Facebook Page

Our bakery is switching agencies, the old account is still stuck in the old portfolio.

Our bakery is parting ways with its previous agency and taking over Instagram itself. We've already set up the new Facebook Page, but connecting it to our Instagram account just returns an error.

What could cause that, if both accounts belong to us?

By Meta's own help pages, a professional Instagram account can sit in only one Business Portfolio at a time. If the old agency originally set the account up, it very likely still sits in their portfolio, even if you've had the login for a while now. That's what blocks the connection to the new Page, which probably lives in your own new portfolio. The old assignment is what actually triggers the block here.

To make it work, the Instagram account first needs to be removed from the old portfolio, only then can it join your own portfolio and connect to the new Page. Whoever still has access to the old portfolio should settle this before the handover is final.

A professional Instagram account, by Meta's own help pages, can sit in only one Business Portfolio at a time. If a previous agency set it up, it usually still sits in their portfolio, even once the login has long since been handed to the business and the account is run entirely in-house.
