# Someone requested ownership of our listing and we have three days

Notification sent to a mailbox nobody has opened in years.

Our listing was created in 2021 by a former employee. Nobody has managed it since, and the mailbox on file is his.

Now an agency has requested ownership. A colleague happened to see the notification. It states a deadline of three days.

The deadline is real and it is running. On a listing nobody manages, the recorded owner is notified by email and has three days to respond. Where no response comes, the request can result in a transfer.

Two things follow, one immediate and one structural. Immediately you need access to the former employee's mailbox, or a response through another route inside the deadline. Structurally, a listing like this belongs on a company mailbox tied to a role, one that outlives any individual leaving.

A Google Business Profile that nobody manages can be claimed from outside. The recorded owner receives an email notification and has three days in which to answer it.
