# After switching to a professional account our profile went public and every request was accepted

Converting removed the private status and confirmed every pending follow request automatically.

In August 2026 we switched our private profile to a professional account to get analytics. Afterwards the profile was public.

On top of that several dozen pending follow requests were suddenly accepted, including accounts we had deliberately left unapproved.

Both belong to the switch and are intended. A professional account is public, so the private status is removed when you convert, and pending follow requests are accepted automatically in the same step.

Switching back does not restore the previous state. Accepted accounts stay accepted and have to be removed one at a time, and connections that hang off the professional account are disconnected when you revert.

So work in this order. Go through the follower list first and remove whatever does not belong there, then decide whether the account stays professional. Converting a private profile to an Instagram business account changes two things at once. The private status disappears because a professional account is public, and pending follow requests are accepted in the same step.

Switching back undoes neither of them. No route exists that restores the earlier state, which is why the decision belongs before the conversion. Reviewing the follower list therefore belongs before the switch. Doing it afterwards costs an account at a time.
