How do we write it on Google? Since the bilingual signage the name appears in directories sometimes with the addition and sometimes without, and one portal lists the street in the Sorbian spelling. * ##### Asked on September 3, 2026 We run a florist on the main market square in Bautzen, and last year, at the city's suggestion, we made the shop window bilingual in German and Upper Sorbian. Since then our name appears in some trade directories with the Sorbian addition and in others without it, and one portal lists the street in the Sorbian spelling. In the Google profile we tried putting the Sorbian name after the German one and removed it again after two weeks, because we did not know whether that was allowed. As for the name, the profile has to carry the [actual business name, with no additions](https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038177?hl=de). If your company name genuinely is bilingual, meaning that is how it appears on the register and on your invoices, then that is the form that belongs there. If only the German form is official and the Sorbian one is an addition on the window, then in the profile name it counts as an addition and will be objected to sooner or later. So the question is settled by your invoice rather than by Google. The address is where something actually breaks. When the same business appears in one directory with the German street spelling and in another with the Sorbian one, a machine sees two separate entries. Settle on one spelling, take the German form from the official address register, and bring the entries into line. Start with the large directories; the others often follow on their own. Bilingual signage in the Sorbian settlement area is [provided for by the Saxon Sorbs Act](https://www.revosax.sachsen.de/vorschrift/3019-Saechsisches-Sorbengesetz). For your shop window that is a good thing and no longer unusual in Bautzen, where [several shops now advertise bilingually](https://www.diesachsen.de/soziales/sorbisch-mehr-laeden-in-bautzen-werben-zweisprachig-2988892). It is a question of visibility on the street, though, and not a question of data hygiene online, and the two are worth keeping apart. Whether anyone searches in Sorbian at all is something you can test cheaply instead of guessing. Publish a post in the profile using the Sorbian terms and look at the search terms in your profile statistics a few weeks later.
