# Our food truck in Dresden barely has any TikTok followers, yet someone thinks we belong there

TikTok's new location-based feed could give a food truck with a tiny following its first real reach among people nearby.

We run a food truck that changes location around Dresden week by week, lately often parked at the Königsufer. On TikTok we barely have two hundred followers, yet one customer insisted we really should be posting there.

It is not obvious to us who would even see our videos with so few followers. We understand the logic on Instagram with its Explore tab, but on TikTok we are less sure.

TikTok recently added a second path to visibility that does not depend on follower count. TikTok's own Newsroom announcement describes a location-based feed called 'Nearby', showing posts 'based on location, the topic of the content, and when the content was posted'. A viewer's past interests play no role in that particular feed.

According to the same announcement, Germany was among the first markets to get this feed, from 4 December 2025, alongside France, Italy and the UK. The one requirement is a location tag on the video. Posting volume alone does not qualify a video for it.

For a food truck that moves around, this is a direct lever. Tagging the current parking spot on each video opens up people within actual walking distance, well beyond the truck's own small following.
