# Our AI browser playbook is from 2025 and the browser it tested no longer exists

Tested in 2025 against a program that was switched off in August 2026.

At the end of 2025 we paid for a playbook on how our booking flow should behave towards AI browsers. The testing then was done against one particular browser from OpenAI.

Now I read that this browser has been shut down. The agency wants to carry the playbook forward unchanged.

The browser tested against in 2025 is ChatGPT Atlas, and it stopped working on 9 August 2026\. The vendor writes that it is moving browser-based agentic capabilities into ChatGPT and Codex, and points at its new desktop application for that work. The environment the playbook was written for has changed underneath it.

A side finding explains why this is hard to notice. Help articles from the same vendor still describe the retired browser in the present tense in places, even though they were edited within the last few weeks. Anyone checking against a single article finds it alive.

That does not make the playbook worthless. The part about forms, buttons and unambiguous labels holds for any agent, because it asserts nothing about a particular product. What is worthless is the part that fixes product names, identifiers and test cases in place.

Ask the agency for a version where names and identifiers live in one section and the rest stands without them. If that separation turns out to be laborious, that says something about the first version.
