# We write posts with AI. Does that have to be labelled?

The model produces a draft, a member of staff rewrites it and checks the facts. Around fifty posts from last year are still online.

We write posts with AI. The arrangement is simple: the model produces a draft, a member of staff rewrites it in their own words and checks the facts, then we publish.

Now there is talk of a labelling obligation. I read about it and cannot tell whether we fall under it, because in the end a human edits the text anyway. Around fifty posts were produced this way last year; they are online and are not going anywhere.

Do we have to label anything, and what do we do about the old ones?

Not every text falls under it, and the line runs along the purpose of the material.

What has to be labelled is content written by a machine that informs the public about matters of general importance. An ordinary post about a service does not fit that description. The second exception matters more day to day: where a person reviews and reworks the text, no labelling is needed, and that is exactly how you work, with the model's draft rewritten and checked by a member of staff. The catalogue of obligations is in [Article 50 of the AI Act](https://ai-act-service-desk.ec.europa.eu/en/ai-act/article-50), and the requirements apply from 2 August 2026.

For the old posts the same criterion decides. If a real editor stood behind them and they are ordinary posts about services, they can be left alone.

From the editorial side, let me add how this looks in practice.

A draft from the model never goes out as it stands with us. It loses half its length at the first read-through, because the model writes smoothly and non-committally, whereas a post needs a specific case and a living turn of phrase. So the labelling question barely arises in practice.

It arises where texts are published unreviewed and with nobody responsible, and that is a problem in its own right, quite apart from the law.
