# Where do opening hours in our listing come from that we never set?

Different opening hours and an attribute turned up without anyone in the business setting them.

We run a dry cleaner with three drop-off points. In the summer of 2026 one listing suddenly carried different opening hours and an attribute we never set.

Two colleagues manage the listing and both say they changed nothing. I cannot find a change log.

Details like these can arrive from outside your business, and there are two separate routes.

The first is Google itself. The operator asks for business information actively, including through automated calls and messages to the number on file, and states that anything you provide in reply may be used to update the profile. Anyone treating such calls as marketing and hanging up leaves the answer to an estimation process.

The second route is suggestions from users. Both routes end in the same field, and telling them apart afterwards is close to impossible.

On top of that, editing now happens inside Search and Maps, and every change is reviewed before it appears. A correction is rarely visible straight away, which strengthens the impression that the listing moves on its own.

The only habit that helps is a regular look, monthly for instance, comparing the listing against a list of your authoritative details. One note about older archives while you are there. Chat and call history in the profile has been unavailable since 31 July 2024, and those records could be retrieved through the data export for a limited window afterwards. That monthly look is a standing item at [Illia BizTech](https://illia-biztech.de/en/) for businesses that never get to it.

A Google Business Profile is now maintained inside Search and Maps, and every change is reviewed before it appears. Details arrive from the business, from user suggestions, or from Google's own collection.

That collection includes automated calls and messages to the number on file. A business that treats those calls as marketing and hangs up leaves the field to whatever else Google has. A monthly comparison against a list of authoritative details is the one habit that protects against it.
